GENIVI and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) have been exploring how the very long and very quiet relationship between the radio and automotive industries needs to improve. With radio being a primarily one-way broadcast, trends within the vehicle around personalization, localization, and two-way dialog are leaving radio behind – and the radio industry is not willing to settle for that model. GENIVI and NAB formalized this dialog during a joint workshop in June co-located with the TU-Automotive show in Novi, Michigan. This workshop sparked interest in several automotive OEMs and suppliers and has become the catalyst for more joint activities planned during the CES2019 show, next year’s NAB Show in April and the GENIVI all member meeting in May. Details will become available in coming weeks so stay tuned.
